Just okay
It was very dry when I got it and didn’t have much flavor.

Black Virginia
This very dark tobacco is quite dry upon opening the canister and has a nice smell. I dedicated my Peterson Harp and 2021 St. Patrick's pipes to it and smoked four bowls in each before submitting this review. It provides a very satisfying smoke with prodigious smoke and stayed lit well. The specs say it is flavored with sugar, and you can tell ever so slightly. Both the taste and room note reveal a hint of well toasted marshmallow. Not a sweet taste, only the carmillized flavor. One drawback, which resulted in the loss of a star, is this tobacco burns VERY hot. Make sure to only use it in a well broken in pipe and keep your fingers off that bowl (or wear your asbestos mits).

Smooth
This fourth tobacco in my pipe kingdom smells not as sweet as the flavor in the product description, similar to one special latakia flake I have had. Its smooth and approachable taste still gives me each relaxing moment.

My first time trying a black Virginia. Rattray’s, in my opinion, is one of the best brands you can go with. I was not disappointed with this black Virginia. It’s robust but very smooth. Highly recommended.

Quite good. Not what I expected.
I was expecting this to be more like an aromatic. My Bad. It is a pretty mild smoke. A very smooth nice Virginia. I think I'll try it packed on top of a sweet aromatic to get that bull's flake feel.
