Carter Hall used to be my go to tobacco when I wanted to smoke something in a cob... When it was recently discontinued, I went looking for a replacement and Amphora Burley was the leading contender. The quality of the leaf (from Mac Baron), is excellent.
A satisfying blend.
I was really surprised by this tobacco. This stigma that seems to follow pouch tobaccos is that they will "do the job" with just enough to get by. Not so with Amphora Burley Blend. this is very good quality burley with lots of natural nuttiness and cocoa notes. This is NOT a topped or cased tobacco. It's natural and the quality of the blend stands on its own. You should try this if you haven't already.
Nice burley. My favorite Amphora blend.
This has become my daily first smoke. It goes very well with my morning coffee and is a good no fuss no muss smoke at any time of day. It is a blend that is now included in all of my tobacco orders.
I read on one of the Tobacco Review that this is very close to the HH Burley Flake tin. They lied. Only the spelling is the same. This OTC pouch belongs in a pouch. The HH tin has nothing to worry about.
If you like burleys don't bother. Boring. Hot air. There is simply nothing there. The only one star review I've ever given. A bowl of nothing.
Amphora Burley (Mac Baren) is a very good Burley blend. Basically Burley with a touch of Virginia and Kentucky. It’s a quality Burley blend of medium strength, in ready-rubbed form. To me, it appears to be more of a broken flake. Taste is much like HH Burley Flake but somewhat lighter. Could easily be an all-day smoke. I experienced to bite at all.
Excellent burley tobacco that is mild, smooth and enough Virginia tobacco to make it a great tasting smoke. Won’t bite you, and all day smoke.
