A rich latakia blend pressed into thick and fragrant slices. This tobacco is strong in flavor and intensity. A main dish instead of an appetizer or dessert, the smoke will leave you satisfied. A fantastic tin to have on hand for any English lover, the smoke is thick and rewards your full attention.

What is in it?
This blend is an English crumble cake that is sliced before packing.  In Bengal Slices you will find...
Latakia: Cyprean Latakia is a strong component.
Oriental: Turkish is here in a small amount.
Virginia: The Virginia is of the yellow variety, but some of the Virginia is stoved to a black color.
Cavendish: There is an Unflavored Black Cavendish present.

What does it smoke like?
Bengal Slices is a strong English blend.  The Latakia is predominant in the flavor.  There is more sweetness than you would expect from a strong Latakia mixture.  The sweetness is partially from the Unflavored Black Cavendish and partially from an Anise or Licorice topping that has been applied.  The topping is light and this blend should not be considered an aromatic.  The pressed cakes have married the flavors very well.  Recommended for pipers familiar with Latakia who want more sweetness from a blend.  Nicotine is medium and flavor is full.  There are few English crumble cakes that have a topping like this, I can't think of a close comparison.

How to prepare it?
Let's face it, flakes and cakes are fun.  I recommend lightly rubbing out a flake to get a limestone pebble consistency.  Rubbing out before drying will result in less unsmokable powder being produced.  Dry to your preference.  The dryer this tobacco, the less you will notice the topping and the more pronounced the tobacco flavor will be.  Load your pebbles like a cube cut; fill the pipe using gravity only.  Do not press this tobacco tightly into the bowl since this cut will expand as it burns.

I really like this one. There is a aroma that is fully aromatic and a subtle strength to this taste-sublime.

    Thick

Thick, smooth, smoky, buttery, subtle notes of other flavors which I cant entirely point to. Is best smoked slowly with a medium pack and full bowl. Stays lit fairly well like this and gets smokier as you go. A lot of butter note throughout. Seems a bit lighter on nic than some which for me makes it more controllable.

Harsh, does not stay lit, MUST dry it out to smoke it, more "work" than pleasure to smoke

    Fantastic tobacco

I want sure I even wanted to try this one but I'm very glad I did. The licorice top note is very subtle, almost undetected by my mouth but more obvious in my nose. It's got a sweetness but it's a good barbecue sauce sweet, not at all a dessert sweet. I never had the pleasure of trying the original but this is a great tobacco.

This is truly a fantastic blend. Full and satisfying smoke. Latakia is predominant with a hint of licorice. Burns well with no tongue bite. I would suggest to fill a rather large bowl, without packing tight. Light up, seat back, smoke slowly and enjoy. A must try.
