The original Anthology was released in 2022 as a celebration of Cornell & Diehl's 30th anniversary, and it featured a number of tobaccos that paid tribute to the brand's rich history. Anthology 2023 is a similarly celebratory blend, though it celebrates the year 2023, showcasing a curated selection of exceptional Red Virginias from across the year's releases. The blend comprises a mixture of 2013 Steamed Virginia Reds, 2019 North Carolina Reds, 2022 North Carolina Reds, and 2019 Georgia Reds that are treated with Cornell & Diehl's proprietary stoving process and sliced into flakes. Primed for aging, Anthology 2023 is a unique take on the Virginia blend that's highlighted by a naturally sweet and tangy profile which includes notes of earth, crushed allspice, black currant, and rich dark molasses.

I wish it was a regular

Unfortunately this was a limited production run. I really enjoy how the Virginia’s come together for a symphony that dances across your palette. A zesty sourdough natural tobacco that’s sure to please even the snobs. The tin note is so nice. The hay and bread qualities come through like a chorus filling you with joy. Like a good cold frothy beer mmmmm yummy

    New to Virginias

Posted by Greg Allen on 21st Dec 2023

I’m a relatively new pipe smoker and have really enjoyed English blends, a few burley blends, but just couldn’t get the hang of it.,, tasted like ash, bad tongue bite, etc.,, I’ve recently committed to learning how to smoke Virginias, mainly due to wanting a change occasionally, rave reviews about so many different Virginias and Va/Pers, plus the enormous selection available. So, here I am giving 5 stars on a straight Virginia tobacco! I just received my order today and the first bowl, after 30 minutes dry time, smoked cool, silkey smooth smoke, and a slightly sweet and simply delicious taste. I don’t quite know all I was tasting/experiencing, however, on bowl #2…. Dried 45 minutes, broke some up a little more than the first bowl, loaded a meer, and WOW! nice hay. Honey, fig, maybe a little brown sugar notes. Burn was even cooler and a touch sweeter. Also picked up some sour notes (in a great way)! Just placed another order! This stuff is absolutely AMAZING! Now if I can keep from smoking it all, looking forward to getting some age on it.
