Among the most interesting and complex types of tobacco in existence, Perique is used in numerous mixtures, often as a condimental leaf to bring nuance or complexity to a blend. Few manufacturers, however, have created a pipe tobacco focused specifically on the spicy, piquant component. First introduced to the C&D portfolio in 2016, Small Batch: The Beast challenges that paradigm with a singular mixture showcasing the natural characteristics of Perique.
Small Batch: The Beast features 51% Perique, soaked in spiced rum for seven days and supported by C&D’s proprietary Red Virginia Cavendish, unsweetened Black Cavendish, and a whisper of Dark-Fired Kentucky. Given Perique’s naturally high nicotine levels, its majority presence makes for quite a robust smoke, yet as a mixture, it’s exceedingly complex: The modest addition of Dark-Fired Kentucky lends the blend a subtle, tangy note of mesquite smoke, with the Red Virginia and unsweetened Black Cavendish supporting the Perique’s natural flavors of stone fruits and piquant spice.
Back in stock today after an absence of nearly five years, The Beast is certainly not for the faint of heart, its complex flavor sure to captivate your shop’s most inquisitive and intrepid of pipe smokers. Only 2,500 tins were produced in this Small Batch run, so hurry and get your's today to get this one-of-a-kind pipe tobacco. We also have lots of new tobacco pipes to take a look at too!

This is great tobacco. I am a fan of the bolder, stronger leaves. I did not find this to be over bearing, or even close too it. The rum, which is delicious and very present from char light to bowl bottom. The rum adds sweetness to the spice and rounds it out nicely! I LOVE it and wish I could have gotten more than 1. I literally took the last one, had two in my cart, but couldn't check out until I dropped it to 1 tin, then it went out of stock... I've heard of a few people that do not like it, but purchased 10+ tins... that makes sense.
Wow, this smells exactly like Copenhagen Black (Bourbon Blend) snuff. The rum smell and taste in this blend are very potent, and it has a very hard nicotine hit, so be careful with this stuff. I really enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Honestly, the run was too strong for me to taste any of the tobaccos. Too bad they're all gone, I should have ordered a few tins instead of 1.
