A delicious smokey, sweet and savory, contemplative and relaxing smoke. All the tobaccos are expertly blended and in harmony. Sweet virginias, slightly tangy orientals, and the lead singer is a fully maximized smokey latakia that goes to the edge of bitter smoke but never actually becomes bitter but instead velvety luscious hardwood campfire. There isn't much better than sitting on the back deck with a big wide bowl of 10 to Midnight. This can be compared favorably any of the popular balkans today and at a price that will allow cellaring. Highly compressed broken kake. Rub out thoroughly for minimal relights. Spectacular tin and room note. (My order was very quick to arrive via standard shipping across the country, so +1 for TP's service as well).
Oh boy, a must and go ahead a get a pound let it age. ENJOY.
This is very good. I enjoyed the first bowl and can't wait to get into this deeper.
This is an English that must not be taken lightly. If you are tired of burning through your Virginia’s in 20 or 30 minutes or less getting tongue bite, and really only lighting your pipe once or twice then I suggest you try this. You’re gonna need a blow torch to get the bowl started probably several relights during the smoke but the point is you’re in for a long slow easy pure English smoke
As other reviewers have noted, it is somewhat difficult to light. It has a fairly sharp taste as well. I won't make it a regular smoke after I finish this half pound, but it isn't too bad. Three stars are about right. Nearer to four than to two.
Ahh this is quite possibly the best English I’ve had. I love the cut. It burns the slowest of all and stays smooth all day long. Tin note-English!
I did not have high expectations because of how H&H markets it, but it is a very nice smoke for the price. The Virginias in it are distinctive and give it a signature. As NickG said, it needs a little airing out.
First time I tried this I was disappointed. It was just OK and I had a hard time keeping it lit. However, after really rubbing it out and letting it dry off for a while, I was rewarded with a VERY flavorful smooth smoke, ( Bengal Slices Good !) This will become a regular in my tobacco rotation. I wish that H&H would tin it so that it could be put away.
