Hearth & Home 10 to Midnight Bulk

I've been trying out the H&H blends lately and have been impressed at the quality of the blends. This blend is no exception. The tobaccos are top notch and the mixture is very tasteful and cool smoking. A very good Balkan blend that is in my regular rotation now.

I enjoy pipes throughout the day so buying bulk allows me to enjoy plenty of bowls and save money. Saving money never tasted so good! This is a Balkan style blend with a soft sweet Latakia at the front. Plenty of extra flavor from the Virginias. While the Latakia is upfront, there is a delightful dark berry that plays among the main flavors. The cake is quite dense and hard yet it rubs out well. Cool burning with tons of flavor, power is a tic or two under medium. Recommend to all Enthusiasts and newcomers wanting an all day blend with a lot of flavor and a lot of savings. This is an example of how something good does not need to be expensive in cost. It is on my reorder list

In a word, delicious. This was my first venture into nonaromatic flake or cake, and I was a bit unsure of what to do with the stuff. I contacted the good folks at tobaccopipes.com suggesting they discuss preparation of various cuts of tobacco and was surprised to receive a wonderful email in return with excellent advice on how to prepare cake tobacco. It is not a big deal. I found keeping the cake as intact as possible, packing all around with loose, broken off pieces worked best for me. Just be careful. If there are air gaps around the chunks they can begin to burn on all sides, get very hot, and bite. The reward for trying flake/cake was the FLAVOR! Hearth and Home's Ten to Midnight will be a regular in my line up. I will order another pound when finished with this one.

Really nice Latakia smoke.

Honestly, as an English smoker, this is one of the best. It is very firm but easy to crumble. Needs a little dry time but smokes great. Very smokey and creamy, a bit of spice noticed right away.

I ordered 2 pounds. It arrived in 2, 1lb bricks. Upon opening one bad with a small chunk broke off. The Latakia hit me pleasantly. I let that chunk breathe for an hour then rubbed it out. Packing my pipe was a breeze. Char light then the main light. It lit up easy, and stayed lit until 1/4 bowl left. It's smoky smooth, buttery, a sweetness, and a spice. That lasted the whole bowl. I paid $28 a pound, for the quality of the blend and tobacco flavors. This deserves a full 5 stars. I will order 2-4 more pounds when I get the jars. A all-day smoke if you like latakia balkan blends.

This is my favorite latakia blend. Smoky all the time, buttery sometimes, sour sometimes, sweet sometimes, savory sometimes, briny sometimes. All of these can, and do happen during a smoke session of this. Rub out the cake fully, and let it dry a bit. You're gonna have to focus on getting this tobacco lit more than others. Slight stirring and tamping as it smokes will keep it going. It can burn hot, but I don't get bit by it! It is very smooth for having such robust flavor. Stuff ages well too, just gets more buttery. Nicotine is at the medium side of mild/medium. Certainly a fine smoke any time of the day. Exceptional for cool weather, it can be a bit too forward in hot weather. And at this price and service IT IS A WIN!! Sometimes I feel like I've smoked a page out of an ancient wizards tome after I'm done smoking it. It is dang good. A delicious smokey, sweet and savory, contemplative and relaxing smoke. All the tobaccos are expertly blended and in harmony. Sweet virginias, slightly tangy orientals, and the lead singer is a fully maximized smokey latakia that goes to the edge of bitter smoke but never actually becomes bitter but instead velvety luscious hardwood campfire. There isn't much better than sitting on the back deck with a big wide bowl of 10 to Midnight. This can be compared favorably any of the popular balkans today and at a price that will allow cellaring. Highly compressed broken kake. Rub out thoroughly for minimal relights. Spectacular tin and room note.
