Hot pressed means that the Flake tobacco is heated during the pressing process. This causes steam to form and intensifies the taste of the tobaccos. Mac Baren HH Old Dark Fired Pipe Tobacco is a Burley and Virginia mix but the heated pressing adds a heaping dose of boldness that will leave the smoker thinking of their favorite Latakia blends.

Very bold pleasant taste, very full-bodied smoke. It definitely makes me excited to try their other products!

This tobacco is beyond smooth
I decided to try the Old Dark Fired because of just how great the HH Burley Flake was. Let me tell you, MacBaren doesn’t disappoint! I was a bit apprehensive at first because of the 5/5 strength rating. To me, it was so very smooth that I didn’t notice it being any stronger than the Burley Flake. I had never tried a flake tobacco until the Burley Flake and it smoked so well and stayed lit. So this is my second flake and it smokes so well that I may never smoke anything but flake tobaccos again. They’re easy to handle and pack into your pipe. I love them! When I ordered this Old Dark Fired, I also ordered a tin of Capstan Blue Original Navy Cut. I will be smoking that tomorrow and I will be leaving a review. The Capstan was recommended by the same friend in the YTPC that got me to try the HH Burley Flake. I can’t wait until tomorrow!

Class!
When you crack the tin and take a whiff, the aroma makes an immediate impression---class! This is artisan stuff. Break it up, rub it out lightly, and let it air a few minutes. You're in for a treat. Burley is the star, but the supporting actors create a rich, slightly sweet flavor profile that I could not have imagined possible. It has plenty of kick---great after dinner, but an all-day smoke for only the devout Burley lover. I will definitely buy it again. Now I am all keyed up to try their Latakia Flake.

Mac Baren Old Dark Fired
A wonderfully strong flake. Very rich and smoky dark flakes, nice consistency, smells a lot like vinegar out of the tin, but don’t let that concern you. The profile is exceptional. A good strong smoke, but still mellow enough that it could be an all day if you wanted.

Superb Tobacco!
Hands down this has become one of my favorite tobaccos I have tried so far. I've smoked this exclusively in my cobs and the experience is a joy from start to finish. Full flavor and burns smooth and easy. I like to rub this one out well and let dry for 20-30 minutes. The full flavor is very "woodsy" and reminds me of good jerky. It's one tobacco I anticipate smoking when time allows. Try this tobacco it will not disappoint! I need to stock up on this one.

Wine?
This tobacco hits the same taste buds red wine hits. Kind of a sour note. It is very mellow and cool burning. This will be going in my main ration of bacci and be bought by the pound.

Delicious
This blend is one of my All-Time Favorites! Much better than you would think. The flavor is very reminiscent of a campfire smell but doesn’t taste like you’re smoking a campfire. The can smells of BBQ or liquid smoke flavoring but it tastes very different than it smells. Very rich, very flavorful. Smoke this blend a little on the dry side or else it’ll make your pipe juicy. Nevertheless, if you’re a piper, you need some Old Dark Fired in your rotation.
