Newminster No. 400
A great Virginia flake, light and mellow with an aroma of honey and Graham cracker. An all-day smoke.

Bulked up & jarred
I was introduced to this blend in the first month (April '22?) of the Mystery Compare & Share blends. Before I knew what it was, I had determined that I preferred it over the (slightly more popular) VaPer that was the mystery counterpart that month. It is smooth and delicious - and is the first Va that I bulked up on and jarred. Reaching for Va's less frequently at this point than Englishes, I find the milder presentations of this leaf to be more to my preference at this time. This is one that burns more easily for me, and has me less concerned with heat & bite than many other popular Va's. Smooth & creamy, which apparently comes in part from just a touch of caramel. Don't let that push you away, I found it to be very delicate and if this leaf style is your friend, No. 400 could be an all day smoke. It's on the top 10 list for a good reason. Great value as well.

Mystery Solved
Found this as the #2 option on the first month of the Mystery Review "series". It was a nice way to find a new-to-me blend. I have enjoyed it quite a lot; enough to order a fair bit more...

#400
Delicious. This is a non-complex straight VA. Not gonna knock your socks off, but a great all-day garage smoker.

Highly Recommended
I am a fan of strait virginia tobaccos and I must admit this is on the top of my list. Burned well right out of the bag sweet earthy aroma. Easily a steady smoke for me. Also fits perfectly in quart jars for cellaring. I will certainly be ordering more of this wonderful smoking tobacco!

Good aging potential
Smoked with 9 months of age on it. Blended and packed March 2020. Has a pleasant room note. Needs drying time . Smokes cool and flavourful. Demands your attention to get hold of subtle flavour.

NO. 400 SUPERIOR FLAKE
08 OCT, 2020 Can you say "BLUEBERRY MUFFINS" This is the note that I get from the baggie. It is a very sweet smell which includes Honey, bread dough and minimal spice. This seems like it will be a very light smoke. I am hoping the bread dough comes out in the smoke. One other item, I do not detect any grassy hay or citrus like odors and I do believe rum has been incorporated. This does smell very appealing and it is going to be a treat when I get to it which will be very soon. I fired up my Scott Hudson poker loaded with SNF. It is very gentle and smooth, tastes like a fresh slice of bread from the oven. This is delicious to say the least. This blend does get a little spicy around the first quarter of the bowl and maintains this spice till last puff. Not much of a NIC hit until you get to the end of the bowl and then watch out. Your head may be swimming. This is definitely a Virginia lover's tobacco. This is a damn good Virginia blend.

rich smell
Have a little dry, if more wet will be perfect.

Another Virginia Flake ??
Yes, I guess it's just another in a long list of Virginia Flakes...but it's right up there at the top of the list. A mild, non-obtrusive, satisfying all day smoke for Virginia lovers. It has become my go-to-smoke every day. As an after thought, the price is right also.
