Master Blender Russ Ouellette has struck gold again with his Perique centered blends.
The RO line of pipe tobacco is yet another delicious and fragrant master collection from Ouellette, and the Perique is the star of the show.
Ouellette always appreciated Perique tobacco, which he talked about in a 2010 interview.
"Perique to me is probably the biggest chameleon. You use it in one blend and it makes the blend sweet. You use it in another blend and it makes it spicy. Combine it with other things and it takes on a completely different flavor profile. It's really an interesting tobacco to work with because sometimes you think you have an idea of what the end product is going to be like and you put it together and try it and it's completely different than what you thought. So I enjoy working with Perique," Ouellette said.
It does not get much better than Ouellette's first RO release, Fire Storm. A superb mix of Virginia, dark-fired Kentucky, and Perique tobaccos, this blend starts out sweet but will show its spicy side as you smoke longer. If you appreciate a bold Virginia/Perique tobacco, this is the one for you.
