Took me a minute to understand how to smoke it
I tend to pack harder and puff more often than most recommend. Sometimes I’ll let it cool off for a bit and then be a bit gentler, but with this tobacco specifically, that’s really just not going to work out. Once it’s been overheated, the whole rest of the bowl is a bit sharp, perhaps a little cigarette-ish. One must pack this lightly, and puff with a long slow draw, and take care not to get it overly hot. Many other tobaccos have components which may actually be complimented or brought further out by a hotter, tighter packed burn (within reason). This tobacco demands to be treated right, and once you figure that out, it rewards you with a citrusy light - not insane, but more than the just whisper of citrus on something like the sixpence, which feels like it could maybe just be your imagination. It’s soft and gentle, but it’s there. Personally? I wish the citrus was more pronounced, however, the level it is at keeps the tobacco more refined and allows you to taste the virginias - as well as the VERY nice floral topping, which is a softer flavor but more present, if that makes sense. The aftertaste of this stuff is like you’ve been inhaling an aerosolized meadow. It sticks around, and is definitely a very noticeable component in the flavor of the smoke, but still delicate and soft. That’s the main word I would use to describe this tobacco - delicate. It’s also an unusual set of flavors for toppings, which are tasteful in amount, not overpowering the flavors of the virginias, which to me are the varietal with the least bold, most easily overpowered flavor. It is certainly balanced, but I often lead towards bold flavors, topped or not. That being said, it’s a unique flavor that I’ve never encountered with any other tobacco, and it is currently in my cart again for my next purchase.
