Sutliff Dunhill Early Morning Pipe Match Pipe Tobacco

Original Dunhill/Peterson Early Morning Pipe is a little bit dull to me but this match mixture was for discounted to $1/1,5oz., so I decided to spend $5 on it. I thought that I will have some easy going EMP on stock for the upcoming warm days of summer. What a mistake... When I opened the bag, I found a bulk of moist, sticky, huge ribbon-cut tobacco pieces. I didn't worry about it because it's not a big deal to dry it. The smell is absolutely artificial, very sweet, I think they used the same sugar casing on it as on other Sutliff blends - which are aromatic. I can't detect any latakia, and only a pinch of orientals. When lit up, the extremely sweet, chemical flavour is so mawkish, I felt myself sick after the first few puffs. This smell remained with me for some hours, it is very difficult to wash out the sweet, artificial smell from moustache. It has nothing to do with EMP, this is a light aromatic mixture with some weird taste. If you are looking for an English/Balkan mixture, this is nothing like that.

This is a very aromatic, pleasant tobacco, perfect for smoking around smoke sensitive persons. I'd describe the taste as a smooth, almost creamy flavor, with many of the qualities of most tobaccos. Highly recommend trying it if you haven't already.

This tobacco is great, smokes well (no bite), tastes good and smells great. I never had EMP, I just started pipe smoking a few months ago and really glad I tried this. I dried it out for about 45 mins. prior to loading up my pipe. Lots of white ash in the bowl when I was finished. I have a pound of this in the cellar now.

This is my go-to, favorite morning pipe blend. Delicious and mild, packs easily, lights well and burns evenly. The perfect blend for enjoying with a cup of coffee in the morning time. Not a close match for the Dunhill blend, but to my palate, it's even better than EMP. Smooth, tasty and very affordable. Highly recommended.

A wonderful blend. Sweet and smokey. I'll be adding more of this to my cellar. Never had Dunhill's Early Morning Pipe, but if it tastes like this... I can see what the fuss was about!
