Peterson Specialty Tankard Smooth Nickel Mounted Tobacco Pipe PLIP

The tankard is one of my smallest pipes but quickly finding a home amongst my favorites. It's a great pipe for driving to work or taking a short stroll. As to be expected with a Peterson, the quality of materials and construction is top-notch. The only reason I give it 4 stars is that I would like a "tankard" to be a little bigger than this, as the name would suggest.

I needed a smaller “quick” break time pipe and this one is perfect. One thing I found was that with the small bowl and PLIP I noticed I picked up much more flavor from the tobacco. Maybe it is because I wasn’t “overloading “ myself with as dense of smoke, but when I have tobacco that I want to taste, I pull this one out. Highly recommend it if you have short breaks or like a lighter clinch. One note of caution: my first one broke with the slightest tap out (suspect a defect in the briar) but I got with the guys and they sent a replacement fast. Excellent customer service and one of my favorite pipes.

I am not sure when I would actually use this pipe. I have found that the bowls in the 0.70-76 range are too small for me. Now, if I were a pipe smoking mountain climber or lightweight backpacker, this pipe might be the ticket. Yet it wouldn't be a Latakia binge-fest go-to pipe if I were going to rewatch the whole Vikings series again, Season 795 to 1200, start to finish. Nice pipe though.

If I were sailing, this would be one of the pipes I would take. The bowl is a little bit small for me for a Netflix smoking Marathon. But the quality is amazing, the look is stunning, and that flat bottom of the tankard style makes it the perfect pipe when you are at one's studies, playing chess, or reading a book. This is a wonderful look with a wonderful feel. Outstanding.

This is a great pipe. Smokes very smooth, and is comfortable to hold. I'm really impressed with the quality of the pipe.

This pipe is smaller than is typical, but you won’t find a better, lighter, more comfortable pipe.

You are hard pressed to find a better pipe than a Peterson in any size,and this pipe is no exception. I bought it to use as a quick 15 to 20 minute pipe and am well pleased the initial few bowls were pleasant and break in was a snap. I would recommend this pipe to anyone wanting a smaller pipe.
