Smells better when burning
Could be my inexperienced pallet. In the tin it smells like burnt rubber with the typical fermented raisiny barnyard way in the background. Interestingly, that changes to incense and pepper when it’s lit. Flavour isn’t too strong and quite peppery.

Ashton's Consummate Gentleman
This is one of my favorite medium English blends. My wife purchased my first tin as a gift, and I have been back at it ever since. Although I have smoked it out of all of my pipes I find that I find it most enjoyable when loaded into one of my billiard shapes. I would also like to add that those rascals at TobaccoPipes.Com get all of my orders to me in two days.

Flavor is a little soapy
Out of Ashton's English blend offerings, I personally favor Artisan Blend, but if that one is too strong for your tastes, Consummate Gentlemen is a good choice. For my palate though, I find the initial flavor a bit soapy. If you like halfzware shag rolling tobaccos though, this pipe blend is similar.

This is a very smooth tobacco, with no heavy sweet flavors and there is no bite.

I really enjoyed smoking this. I'd relate it to Dunhill's "Night Cap" You can definitely smell the Latakia but it is not as potent as the "Night Cap". I am really enjoying this one by Ashton. To top it off. My name is Ashton too. Pretty much the main reason I bought it. Can't wait to try more.
