With a crowd pleasing room note and real tobacco flavor, Cult Blood Red Moon is a popular aromatic that appeals to many pipe smokers. Flavors of cherry and dark chocolate mingle with sweet and toasty tobacco.  Viewed by many as being the most bite free cherry blend available, Blood Red Moon is a great choice for smoking in public all day.

What is in it?
This is an aromatic blend with cherry flavor
Burley: There is Burley in this blend, although you may struggle to notice it.
Virginia: The Virginia seems to be the main component.
Cavendish: You will find quite a bit of black Cavendish present.

What does it smoke like?
Blood Red Moon is a full aromatic pipe tobacco.  The taste of the tobacco is not entirely overwhelmed by the topping, but rather combines into one flavor.  I taste very sweet cherry, and dark chocolate.  The flavor is similar to eating a cherry cordial, but there is a bread like toasty taste that has to be the Burley and Virginia.  For a full aromatic, I noticed no tongue bite.  The tobacco left no dottle, but there was some moisture in the bowl.  The next bowl of whatever you have in the same pipe may have a ghost of cherry flavor.

How to prepare it?
Aromatic pipe tobacco is very sensitive to preparation.  Take one bowl's worth out of the tin and let it dry in the air for at least half an hour.  When the tobacco is no longer moist/sticky you are ready to pack.  Use a light hand while packing the bowl.  A two step pack is better than a three step pack for this blend.  If it won't stay lit, use a tamper to tighten the pack a bit.  Don't smash it in since it is very difficult to loosen the tobacco again.  You should have no trouble drawing air thru the pipe.  Smoke with a controlled, slow cadence for maximum flavor.

    Super cherry

Not a fan of this one. I've had a few cherry tobaccos and this one is just... Harsh. It actually gave me a headache and my buddy a stomach ache. The taste is maraschino and chocolate. Really strong maraschino. Honestly, I found Sutliff Black Cordial to be a lot more enjoyable. ( So did my buddy) Awesome tin though, great room note. Just a bit much for me.

Haven't put this down since I received it! Very pleasant cool, thick smoke with ample of cherry flavor. Been smoking it in the same cob for a week now, very little sticky build up and nice room note.

    Hyped up had to try

Posted by Julian Santa Ana on 12th Dec 2021

I’m not the biggest aromatic fan so take this review lightly. It was the most hyped up cherry aromatic that I wanted to give it a go. Upon opening the tin the cherry had too much of a synthetic smell to me. This was my first cherry aromatic though so I’m unsure if that’s the way they all smell. Again, I’m a picky aromatic guy. However it smokes a lot greater than it smells. The cherry mellows out and it blends together nicely. If you’re not an aromatic fan, this definitely will not change your mind. I will try other cherries just to put it up to the test and may come back to give it a higher review once it has had time to relax in the cellar.

    Fantastic

I am not usually a fan of cherry aromatics, but this has become one of my favorite aromatics out there. Smokes cool and doesn’t leave a mess in the bottom of your pipe. I would highly recommend!

    My favorite

This is by far one of my favorites, and I’m not an aromatic kind of guy. The room note is the best I’ve ever experienced. The flavor is out of this world. Smokes pretty well, relighting may be necessary, it’s pretty sticky but there’s minimal spitback, none if you’re using a filter.

    Pretty good

At first it tasted a little like a 99 cent swisher but after smoking it more I started to appreciate it. Doesn’t leave a bad taste in the mouth and it really makes a room smell great.
