What is in it?
This is an aromatic blend with cherry flavor
Burley: There is Burley in this blend, although you may struggle to notice it.
Virginia: The Virginia seems to be the main component.
Cavendish: You will find quite a bit of black Cavendish present.
What does it smoke like?
Blood Red Moon is a full aromatic pipe tobacco.  The taste of the tobacco is not entirely overwhelmed by the topping, but rather combines into one flavor.  I taste very sweet cherry, and dark chocolate.  The flavor is similar to eating a cherry cordial, but there is a bread like toasty taste that has to be the Burley and Virginia.  For a full aromatic, I noticed no tongue bite.  The tobacco left no dottle, but there was some moisture in the bowl.  The next bowl of whatever you have in the same pipe may have a ghost of cherry flavor.
How to prepare it?
Aromatic pipe tobacco is very sensitive to preparation.  Take one bowl's worth out of the tin and let it dry in the air for at least half an hour.  When the tobacco is no longer moist/sticky you are ready to pack.  Use a light hand while packing the bowl.  A two step pack is better than a three step pack for this blend.  If it won't stay lit, use a tamper to tighten the pack a bit.  Don't smash it in since it is very difficult to loosen the tobacco again.  You should have no trouble drawing air thru the pipe.  Smoke with a controlled, slow cadence for maximum flavor.

    Tastes Artificial

Posted by SM on 12th Dec 2019

The flavor of this blend is good until the aftertaste, it leaves a distinctly artificial, chemical flavor in my mouth. Not a bad blend, but I can't enjoy it when it leaves such an unpleasant flavor.

It came at good moisture, the initial light was good and it stayed lit pretty well, needing only 1-2 relights as it got toward the bottom of the bowl.

Not a bad blend by any means, but it's not for me.

    Hype well deserved

The pleasant sweetness hits you in the face with this one. The best dessert aromatic I've tried. While the experience is a luxury level smoke, flavor, and room note compared to cheaper cherry-flavored blends, I do get a slight after taste of medicinal cherry Nyquil. However, it's still a very bright and tasty occasional blend to please a sweet tooth.

This has lots of flavor and it’s not too harsh. It’s one of my new favorites.

Firstly, I'm writing this as a very, very, new smoker. This was one of two tobaccos that Ben suggested and I have been over of the moon (punny!) happy with this blend. It is incredibly smooth and I will definitely be purchasing it again. At the moment it's my go-to morning smoke because of the smoothness. The cherry comes through nicely, the cherry is more maraschino than sweet along with dark chocolate and orange and it's so good.

    Blood red moon

This is my perspective and opinion and I know everybody tastes are different.....
The packaging and tobacco are all quality. My issue was with the cherry chapstick flavor/aroma. It wasn't what I expected from the way it was described, in fact, I found it to be the cheapest part of the product.

    Not For Me

Posted by Unknown on 15th May 2019

I found this tobacco to be a little too sweet for me in both smell and taste. I honestly think it’s a personal opinion and not a quality issue, so I didn’t want to give it a 1 star. I think the packaging, label, logo, and everything is on point, just didn't match up with my tastes. Maybe I’ll give it another try eventually.

    So Sweet and Easy

Posted by Joe on 11th May 2019

I'm a little late to the party as this has been on my must-try list for a long long time. I considered this blend as kind of a sweet-tooth thing and we all know the sweet tooth nerve is not always pinging. Well, it was pinging tonight and I cracked my first can of this excellent tobacco. I am in no way well versed in the subtleties but I pay attention and I know when I really like what I'm getting out of smoke. This blood red moon has a fantastic cherry chocolate aroma in the can and a similar awesome room note. It has no bite and was great all the way to the bottom of the bowl. It is a sweet aromatic with an easy burn which makes for a very enjoyable smoke. Easily an all day smoke. This is one I will always want to have in stock and I will be back for more.
