What is in it?

Burley: There is Burley in this blend, although you may struggle to notice it.

Virginia: The Virginia seems to be the main component.

Cavendish: You will find quite a bit of black Cavendish present.

What does it smoke like?

Blood Red Moon is a full aromatic pipe tobacco. The taste of the tobacco is not entirely overwhelmed by the topping, but rather combines into one flavor. I taste very sweet cherry, and dark chocolate. The flavor is similar to eating a cherry cordial, but there is a bread like toasty taste that has to be the Burley and Virginia. For a full aromatic, I noticed no tongue bite. The tobacco left no dottle, but there was some moisture in the bowl. The next bowl of whatever you have in the same pipe may have a ghost of cherry flavor.

How to prepare it?

Aromatic pipe tobacco is very sensitive to preparation. Take one bowl's worth out of the tin and let it dry in the air for at least half an hour. When the tobacco is no longer moist/sticky you are ready to pack. Use a light hand while packing the bowl. A two step pack is better than a three step pack for this blend. If it won't stay lit, use a tamper to tighten the pack a bit. Don't smash it in since it is very difficult to loosen the tobacco again. You should have no trouble drawing air thru the pipe. Smoke with a controlled, slow cadence for maximum flavor.

I am a very novice pipe smoker, but I did know I wanted a cherry flavored tobacco because they smell so good. I purchased this one because of all the positive reviews and it has a cool name. From my 1st pipe of Blood Red Moon I fell in love with it. It is mellow and smells great. No bite at all which surprised me. The perfect cherry tobacco as far as I am concerned and I will be buying a lot more.

When I ordered this product it was too see what the fuss was about . Well it is awesome the room note will make your mouth water it is a complex smooth tobacco all the flavors are present from start to finish but the bottom of the bowl is my favorite Ian very pleased with my experience with tobacco pipes staff no problems great help and reddy and willing to answer questions and help in any way

I was a bit worried about trying this because all the other cherry tobacco products I tried were a bit harsh and if you puffed to much it would bite. Well, I found my favorite tobacco, I like it more than macbaren 7 seas royal. And that’s saying a lot. Will definitely be ordering more soon. Thank you tobaccopipes for the excellent product from an excellent supplier. I only wish they made larger quantities for the blood red moon

Seems to be very popular, as such, I figured I'd give it a try. Wasn't disappointed. Is it the best Cherry I've ever tried.... the jury is still out. Standing on its own and not comparing it to others... It's good.

Most of the time my pipe tobacco leans towards an aromatic like Autumn Evening or a full English like GLP Westminster. But I purchased three cherry blends to try them out. This one was exactly what it proclaimed itself to be -- a distinct cherry-chocolate cordial in tobacco form. I did not enjoy it because this flavor profile was in your face, but I applaud the fact that they got the dart in the center of their target.
