Elegant with a Dash of 1930's Streamlining!
When Peterson first introduced this model those now many years ago, my first reaction to seeing a photo was WOW! That unique bowl shape reminds me of an 1930s era Ocean Liner's funnel! Its true! The pipe's lines screams Art Deco/Art Nouveau and that harkening back to another world! And all that comes rushing at you in the first 5 seconds of beholding this excellent smoking device! When you pick it up and begin to fill the bowl you start to realize that it feels as good in the hand as it looks to the eye! In terms of the function, the pipe is relatively well balanced and can be comfortably held in the teeth or by hand with ease. The weight isn't so bad that your mouth gets tired if you choose to smoke in the hands free position. I often turn to this pipe when I am sitting down with a good Sherlock Holmes or Lord Peter Wimsey book, and it never disappoints! Personally, I prefer the look of this model in the SMOOTH finish with the natural grain of the fine briar showing through the finish. This opposed to the other finish options available. I've owned my D6 for just about 10 years now and have put hundreds of bowls through it and even more hours enjoying its cool and pleasant smokes. Team up your D6 with a bowl of Frog Morton "On the Town" and you are talking pipe smoking heaven on Earth! The only thing missing is the sound of a steam ship whistle and the smell of salt air! You won't regret adding this fine pipe to your Churchwarden collection!
