decent
it is a standard mix. for someone who is just starting to try English tobacco this would be a good start. not at all bad but not something I would keep in rotation. Peterson tins come at a good price point and give the opportunity to try different blends. I don't think the quality is what it could be. tried them all and some are keepers and some not. I do recommend anyone to try them. a decent value for a name brand. Afterall taste is subjective

PETERSON STANDARD MIXTURE PIPE TOBACCO
Any old hand at pipe smoking would recognize the look of this label as a copy of the original "Standard Mixture" offered for many years by Dunhill's of London. I visited their shop there, near Harrod's, in 1985, having been a customer since 1960. I believe they've gone out of the tobacco business for many years. Rumor had it that a Dutch company took over their line of tobaccos, but with a considerable drop in quality and flavor. Peterson has made a valient effort to bring back some aspects of this world famous pipe tobacco. It's "not what it once was", but it is a decent smoke.

Solid English
I tried this blend because the poet, Malcolm Guite, spoke highly of it. It’s a nice English blend that’s not overpowering.

Solid Medium English
This is just a solid, medium body, smooth and not harsh English (or in this case Irish) blend. Very satisfying. Smokes great in my Peterson pipes, but then, what doesn't?

5 Peterson Tobaccos
Of ALL the tobacco blends I've smoked, I have 5 favorites. Standard Mixture, EMP, Old Dublin, Night Cap, and 965. They all taste wonderful and equally as important to me, they load easily, they take well to the flame and stay lit. I won't waste my time with any other blends.

All day
The name really does say it all. It is a standard but by no means boring. This blend shows what a good English blend is all about and is perfect for an all day smoke. My biggest storage jar is full of Standard Mix.

PETERSON STANDARD SMOOTH 307 TOBACCO PIPE FISHTAIL
When I needed words to express how we ( you & me brother) feel about tobacco , I thought of the Master, Mark Twain. & he said "As an example to others, and not that I care for moderation myself, it has always been my rule never to smoke when asleep, and never to refrain from smoking when awake". This is how Peterson's Standard Mixture affects me. This is another example of why this blend and others have withstood the test of time. Petersons' is just understated elegance. If you love fine tobacco Peterson's is one to try.

Peterson Standard Mixture
In an increasingly crowded field, this is a perfect English blend. You may never go back to any other blend.

Perfectly balanced
My favorite English tobacco. The balance of the various tobacco is just right for that English experience that can also be an everyday smoke. Highly recommended!
