Sutliff Rum and Maple Pipe Tobacco

I purchased 8 ounces of the Rum and Maple tobacco, recalling a brand I used to smoke decades ago. This one has every bit of the flavor and aroma of the original. I will be ordering a larger quantity in the future.

This is a nice change of pace for. My rotation i recommend it.

Very nice smoke eith very pleasant aroma. It's a slow damp burn or dry some out a few minutes before smoking it. I like it better than Creme Brulee.

You might try to increase the maple aspect of the flavor. Just a thought.

Older fellow, new piper here. Weigh my thoughts accordingly. From the bulk baggie I received I noted a medium mottled appearance, nice ribbon cut-easy to load, seemed a bit moist but smoked perfectly. The aroma was definitely maple, no apparent rum, with fresh cured hay standing out too but nothing overwhelming, very balanced, very pleasant. It lit easily, nice long sessions between lights, very impressed with a good burn. Very pleasant mouth feel, faint sweetness, sweet hay punched thru somewhat, retro-hale picked up some vanilla-maple, no really noticeable bad aftertaste but no lingering sweetness either. I perceived no apparent nicotine dizziness (a plus for me). It was very pleasant smoking, maybe one of my favorites so far. This one was very nice, and I will return to it in time as I develop my taste pallet and overall piping skills.

In the bag smells of maple with a warm liquor waft. Smells kind of like the exhale after you take a shot of rum, warms the sinus in that same way. Goopy limp tobacco much like any of the sutliff aromatics. When I smoke, I usually don't need a charring light, I kind of puff while I tamp and usually manage to keep it lit on the first one. With this tobacco I needed to relight after charring light which is fine because after that it stayed lit for the whole bowl. Smoked great; pretty much as advertised maple with a light rum note. Wife commented it smelled really good from about 20 feet away. I enjoyed much more than sutliff vanilla custard which to me tastes like cake frosting swirled with cigarette ashes. After the bowl was gone there was some moisture in the bottom of my bowl and the rim of my pipe was sticky. My mouth tasted like pancake syrup which was great! So why five stars? Like I said goopy aromatic, but this is the best of the goopy aromatics I have tried so far. If you want something to make you ponder the complex things in life, and feel self important, smoke elsewhere. If you are having a bad day and want to smoke something that smells good and leaves your mouth tasting like pancake syrup, you are home!
