Another Naval-themed blend, Cornell & Diehl Black Frigate is a seriously strong Krumble Kake with Black Cavendish, Oriental and Latakia all pressed together to give the smoker a one-two-hit of nicotine and rum-filled smokiness.

Awesome. Wish I could find a way to get my own slab instead of the 2oz blocks

    Great blend

I am currently enjoying a bowl of this fine blend as I write this post. The rum is distinct and pleasant to cold draw for a while before lighting. After a number of charring lights it settles down to a rich flavorful blend that has plenty to keep your attention yet is smooth and satisfying. This blend is both outrageous and delightful which is due to the great quality C&D seems to be able to provide tin after tin. They really are one of my favorite tobacco houses. Highly recommend to all Enthusiasts and newcomers wanting to try an excellent rum based blend.

I like this one a lot more than I thought I would. This one has quite a strong rum flavor that I can't taste the latakia that is supposedly there. But the tobacco blend is very rich and strong and gradually balances out the rum. Not for everyone, I think, but the right smoker will love this. Burns slow, cool and long.

This sounds like an odd combination of tobaccos, but they blend amazingly well. No one component stands out, but it's a strong, smooth and pleasant blend. Just a slight rum aroma. It makes me want a pint of grog to accompany this wonderful smoke.

    Wait for it............ boom!!

If the Tobacco Gods are listening, I’d love to see more Crumble Cake style Tobaccos! This is a dandy blend, if you like 2 things. Rum, which will entice you from the jump on the tin note. Then 2nd but not exactly fashionably late to the party Latakia. This cake breaks down easily. Takes a flame eagerly, no drying time necessary. The smoke is tasty, Rum is up front in the first 1/3 of the bowl then bows out gracefully to make way for the Latakia. Room note was mixed, some loved it some said it was fine. That’s a win in my book as no one had anything cross to say!! I definitely will buy more Black Frigate! Happy Piping!!!

    Black Frigate

Man is this stuff good! I like to take long slow tokes and let the exhale get sucked up my nose a la les grenouilles. I've read that the nic hit is quite high, but I don't notice that observation when compared to one of my other favs - C&D'S Speakeasy. Regardless, BF is at the top of my list.

Bold to blend a Navy out of Turkish and Latakia instead of Virginia or Kentucky. Cavendish is added, flavored to a rummy tang, and packed in layers as a moist crumble. The flavor is outstanding and quite strong enough to merit its description as an aromatic. The taste is excellent, fair to fairly strong with a liquor vape sweetness and nice room note. It's got serious nicotine and going power. This is an outstanding if not unique blend among Navy's, worth trying. I'm buying the 8 oz to cellar some and to keep in daily rotation. Definitely, the best of it's kind. Pease is a Master of the craft and this is a contemporaneous classic.
