I had a taste for a cherry blend tobacco. I had only tried Captain Black in the past. So here’s what I found. First, the tin note was strong but not “cough syrup” strong like CB Cherry. It’s not as sticky as CB, but it could stand a little while drying. I let some dry about 30 minutes and it packed fairly well. After an easy charting light, the Lane stayed lit pretty well. I liked the taste it gave, kind of like a cherry pop tart. The room note was not overwhelming like the CB. In fact, my wife said the CB made her eyes water being too strong. She told me I could not smoke the CB inside. The Lane, on the other hand, she really liked the smell. She said it reminded her of a scented candle, very pleasant. Now, I have found with just about all aromatic tobaccos, if you puff it like a madman, you will get tongue burn. You have to lightly puff the Lane and especially the CB, or you will get tongue burn. In conclusion, don’t waste your money on the CB. The Lane Limited Very Cherry is the better of the two. And, TobaccoPipes.com has the best prices on all your tobacco. Thanks, guys!
I found it very flavorful and easy smoking.
I learned. Always buy a pouch, not 1/2lb based on reviews. TASTES LIKE MEDICINE. CHEMICALS. NOT FOR MY TASTE BUDS. Tried blending with a few other tobaccos and no help.
I have to say for me it wasn't very cherry overall in flavor. I was hoping for a stronger sweeter cherry flavor with this one. The cherry was faint at best with this one. I've smoked around 4 bowls of this over the course of time and in different pipes to see how it held up in a cob, briar, and meerschaum. All were pretty much the same in lacking the cherry flavor. That is not to say it's still not a good smoke for what it is.
It just wasn't wowing me. The Virginia's you can taste well and the Burly's also shine. The Cavendish is just right not overpowering as in some other blends can with cherry. The cherry that does come through is a bit on the artificial side but distant for my palate. For an aro though, it's still a good little blend to throw into the rotation. There are still more selections out there that satisfy the cherry crave.
Sutliff's Cherry Cavendish has a nice sweet-tart cherry flavor that last's even after smoking I enjoy. I still will have to try Lane's TK-6 which is supposed to be a tasty cherry blend.
If you like cherry this it pretty good.
Good cherry flavoring, I have not gotten any complaints about how it smelled.
Very good flavor, for my tastes, it needs mixed with something else say BCA.
HARD TO RATE A SPECIFIC TOBACCO THAT IS A STRONG CHERRY TASTE/AROMA. IF YOU LIKE CHERRY AND STRONG AROMA, AND I ENJOY IT--IT IS A 5 STAR. I CAN, HOWEVER, SEE WHERE ITS AROMA FOR INDOOR SMOKING CAN BE A PROBLEM FOR OTHERS; I USE IT ON MY OUTDOOR PORCH.
