Wessex Gold Slice Pipe Tobacco

Wessex continues to be one of my favorite blenders. This golden Virginia flake has a sweet, slightly citrusy aroma in the tin. That aroma is reflected in its flavor profile in the pipe, along with the ever-pleasant Virginia tobacco flavor of freshly baked bread. Its smooth smoking properties make it bite free and cool when smoked with a slower cadence. For me, moisture levels are perfect and entail no drying time. This tobacco is lightly stoved and then aged, which gives it a mellow, slightly creamy character that I've experienced with all of the Wessex blends that I've tried. This is an excellent warm weather smoke. I also recommend Wessex Burley slice, a more complex smoke that exhibits all of the best qualities of that tobacco.

This is a phenomenal, under- the- radar Virginia blends. Reminds me of SG Full Virginia Flake in flavor and character. This is a seriously top notch Virginia blend with superb quality Virginia leaf being used. You can taste the difference right away upon lighting it up. Absolutely zero tongue bite bowl after bowl which is incredible. I literally smoked the entire tin in 1 weeks time and smoked it exclusively once opening it, it's that good. Morning, afternoon, or evening, it's good at all hours of the day. Starts out tasting more grassy (but excellent nonetheless), but then turns into something incredible in the last two thirds of the bowl. Smooth, sweet, and mellow. Unbelievably good. Makes you want to light up another bowl at the conclusion of the previous one. A+ blend.

Light, mild, lemony, no additives. Hurry!

I really like this blend just the way it is. It has great body and palate along with burning to a very nice ash.

A delightful first bowl of the day with coffee. More citrus sweet flavors than syrup or maple sweet. Very smooth, easy to smoke with little chance of a bite. This is as good as it gets for a milder Va Flake.

At the start of the bowl, it is only okay. Halfway through and it develops a slightly stronger flavor. For the last 1/3 of the bowl, it is complete bliss. A very wonderful full feeling. With age, the rough spots of this blend disappear and it turns into something very incredible.
