C'est La Vie Chocolate Éclair Pipe Tobacco

First impressions are pretty good. Aroma straight from the pouch is pretty intense, but when you actually start to smoke it it’s more subtle. Chocolate aroma is definitely noticeable, plays pretty well but not overwhelming. The taste and smoke was pretty consistent. Came a little wet but still didn’t require much relighting, if dried a little will probably be even better. Absolutely recommend. Smokes well, tastes good, smells good, not too strong, for me it can be an everyday smoker

I admit I wasn't much impressed with this tobacco when I first tried it, but I'm coming to like it better each time I give it a try. The chocolate brownie aroma is distinct in the pouch, but it's not a dominant flavor when smoking, nor is it all that noticeable in the room note. Nonetheless, it offers a pleasant aromatic smoke with little or no bite or gurgling juice. I tend to smoke aromatics mostly, and I'm impressed enough with this tobacco that I will add pouches of C'est la Vie French Vanilla and Crème Caramel to my next order. The price is also pretty darned good.

Just the best chocolate tobacco out there that's why it runs out fast. Rich yet mellow and tasty chocolate flavour. It actually tastes as it smalls out of the pack if not better. Can't have enough of it.

When C'est la Vie expanded their line-up to include more than French Vanilla, I was already a fan. Both Creme Caramel and Chocolate Eclair did not disappoint. Chocolate Eclair soon became my favorite and it's not hard to see why. There are so many black Cavendish blends out there flavored with some chocolate liqueur or another, but Chocolate Eclair isn't like them at all. Upon opening a pouch (and I opened about a half pound worth over a few months) you are hit with the aroma of fresh baked brownies just oozing with warm chocolate morsels. The cut is a little chunkier than most ribbon cut tobaccos, but that makes for a long, slow burn suited for such a decadent tobacco. It's not too wet, but it is on the moist side as to be expected for an American style aromatic. Once lit, I didn't have a hard time keeping it going. But, what truly sets Chocolate Eclair apart from all the other chocolate flavored aromatics is the taste. My friends, Chocolate Eclair manages to do something very few aromatics can muster and that is to taste like they smell. We all know the routine... aromatics don't always taste as good to the smoker as they just smell good to those around the smoker, by design. Chocolate Eclair tastes like straight-up death-by-chocolate cake! Not like a flavored tobacco, I mean, like chocolate cake or brownies. That's really all I taste while smoking it. It definitely satisfies my sweet tooth. And, with all that sweetness you may expect it to be steamy or bitey, but this is a very tame tobacco. Just to see how it would react, I pushed this blend hard and it never pushed back to the point I had to stop, only losing flavor as any tobacco would if puffed to hot and fast. But for slow smoking pleasure, Chocolate Eclair is chocolate bliss. As such, I have fallen in love with this blend and rank it among my favorite aromatics.
